Camila in California

Originaire du Chili, Camila habite en Californie où elle est étudiante. Le confinement lui a appris à profiter de chaque jour comme si c'était le dernier car on ne sait jamais quand nous serons coincés chez nous !

I'm Camila, I'm 18 years old, and I'm from Chile but currently living in Lancaster, California.

In California at the moment we have a Shelter in Place Order, which means we cannot leave our house, except for essential activities such as going to the doctor, get the mail, and grocery shopping. Just people who work for essential services are allowed to go work, the rest of us are stuck at home until May 15th.

I'm a sophomore in College here in California. Classes at my college stopped March 16th,we got a 2 week spring break, and after that we started online classes. What I miss the most about going to college is having a real interaction with the professors in the classroom. It's harder to focus at home than in a classroom, and I don't feel really comfortable asking questions during the online classes because it gets confusing.

I do my school work, study, spend time with my host family, work out, and watch Netflix.

I learnt that I actually enjoy being around people and I focus way better at school than at home.

I stay informed through the internet and social media.

Going out as much as I can, spend time with my friends, do the sports I like, such as swimming and rock climbing.

After quarantine I'm not gonna turn down any plans, because you never know when you're gonna be stuck at home for 2 months, so you have to enjoy every day like it was the last day of your life. So I'm just gonna go out, explore, and enjoy my life.

I know this situation is hard for everyone, it's affecting all of us, but we will get through this. For now, stay home, so we can stop the spread of the virus, and go back to our normal lives.
